Sunday 23 June 2013

everyday.

my day to day makeup choices change as often as the weather, Scotland can have 4 seasons in one day haha!
since today is Sunday I haven't bothered with makeup of any description today ( with the exception of my mum testing out her mally primer and mally eye brightener on me ) so I'll give you my Face of the day for yesterday!

this is a great cooling all over face pre-primer item. after reading many blog reviews of this I decided it was a must buy for my collection, it helps with skins over all radiance, I haven't tried it alone under foundation but I may give this a bash tomorrow.
As I mentioned earlier my skin is typically terrible combination skin. so primers always pose as a challenge for me, I've found this to semi solve the problem, I only apply this to my t-zone and starts of my cheeks.
This purchase was a rookie blunder, I normally use illamasqua rich liquid foundation 133 and felt it dried out my skin a bit too much , and the girl on the counter suggested getting the satin primer for underneath it, I have now discovered I can only apply this to my neck and around the frame of my face/cheek area, as it is definitely a tad too shiny for my poor combination skin.

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation. 110 Porcelain  £7.99
Being a fair skinned lady from Scotland, I STRUGGLE to find foundations that are the perfect shade for me, and when Maybelline released this range of products I managed to get my hands on a sample of the foundation in 115, which was marginally too dark for me, id seriously need to get my fake tan on to make it blend, so when browsing my local Watt Brothers Department store ( no website available ) I couldn't believe my luck when I stumbled across shade 110! the only unopened bottle in store! it is a PERFECT match for my skin, so obviously I grabbed a bottle! ( it was about £6.99 on sale I think ) I now cannot find another stockist of this foundation, its left me broken hearted!</3

Maybelline Fit me Pressed Powder 110 Porcelain £5.99
this is unfortunately the same story as the foundation, cannot find another stockist anywhere, Watt brothers did have a few of these in stock at the time, reduced to £4.99, I can see myself heading back to grab a few more of them!

I never manage to continue to use concealers I normally chuck them at the back of the drawer or in the bin after a few weeks as I never find them fit for purpose, this however on the other hand lives in my makeup bag and gets used every single day!

my lovely mum bought me a benefit kit for my Christmas, called Cabana Glama, it had a smaller version of Hoola in it, and I absolutely ADORE it, I find bronzers a difficult factor of makeup, I either end up orange or patchy, but after learning about this contouring phase that's going on in the beauty industry I've finally found the perfect use for a bronzer! hooray!

this box of powder blush was on my wish list for such a long time, finally bought it and I think its fantastic! so many blush colour combinations can be created from this little beauty!

I adore this fine powder, I used to use the colour matched shades of illamasqua pressed powder, but they've since been discontinued and replaced with all purpose translucent powders. next on my buy list is the loose version!
I've just recently started to lighten my hair so my usual benefit brow zings is definitely too dark, I picked this up in the illamasqua winter sale for a mere £5! and now its the perfect shade for my lighter locks to blend with!
I have never really been a fan of highlighters , but this has such a gorgeous sheen to it when its applied, I normally pop it underneath my brow arch and along the centre of my nose and cupids bow.
this was a spur of the moment purchase, like I said earlier I have never been a fan of highlighters but this is probably one of the nicest glows, its a powder compared to most that come in cream or liquid forms, dusted along the top of my cheeks it just adds an extra dimension to the face!

CHEAP AND CHEERFUL , I adore this liner! well, in saying that I don't adore it when it runs a bit into my eyes and takes forever to clean out!, but aside from that its the second best liner ever ( my favourite was discontinued so that's a sore subject ) and at £3.99 its a brilliant and welcome addition to my makeup bag!

Am I the only one who misses the chubby pencil :(? don't get me wrong the finer pencil is excellent but I think id like to have both at the same time !

I lusted after this palette for such a long time! and since buying it I have used it practically every day since bringing it home. recommended highly!

Topshop Mascara FREE
I got this little mascara for free when I was buying two other Topshop makeup items, so I don't have a price range to give on it as they don't have it listed on the website! the brush has to be one of my favourite kinds, I love bristle brushes, none of this comb nonsense! give me my big bushy bristle brushes!

I'm still unsure if this setting spray actually works , I use it most days but I've never really known if its doing its job. probably a big con, but needless to say I'll still continue to use it.

WOW now that I've sat and listed all the items I apply to my face on a daily basis, I can honestly say I'm totally shocked! gone are the days of a quick swipe of foundation eyeliner and mascara!

skin care

I'm not the best when it comes to keeping up with skin care but on the days when I do my regime properly, these are the products I tend to use, at the moment my face wash is almost out and I'm looking to try a new one possibly, so any suggestions are most definitely welcome!
I am faced with almost perfectly described Combination skin! it drives me up the wall all the time.
if I use oil reducing products I end up with dry flaky patches, and if I use products for dry skin I look like I've covered my face in oil , using combination products often gives me a combination of oily skin and dry patches! hence the complete mismatch of skin care products, and a serious case of mapping out my face! so yet again any suggestions pass them my way!!

favourite beauty brands

there are a million and one beauty brands out these days, from high end to high street, over rated to under dog.
until recently I never particularly pledged alliance to specific brands, but I'm finding myself favour some ranges over others.

although I have an obsession for makeup and trying to get myself some makeup artist training there are some pretty obvious brands I have never actually ventured into trying.

so here are some of my go to brands at the moment.

just after Christmas I found myself spending a small fortune on their website due to a crazy cheap sale!
I've since went to my local Debenhams counter to have my makeup done and purchased more items!

I have a good amount of pieces from urban decay , I love their range of neutral eye shadows that feature in their Naked Palettes.

I cannot resist their quirky product names and packaging, from their adorable Box-o-powders to their Beauty kits with smaller sizes of great products.

As well as using these brands I'm forever picking up little additions when I'm in Boots and Superdrug
Maybelline, Revlon, MUA, Rimmel , 17 and Topshop Makeup are all items I pick up without thinking about whether or not I actually need them.

As I mentioned earlier there are many beauty brands I haven't quite ventured to shopping with,
MAC, NARS & Bobbi Brown
I do however think at the end of the month (when payday finally comes around) I'll venture to
house of frasers and see what little items there are to be had.

so this is a blog?

Hello.

I've decided to give myself the task of keeping a blog, I know the internet is bursting at the seams with blogs and review sites, but what's one more?

I'll start off with a brief introduction about myself!

Name: Deborah Kane(that's me in the picture above)
Age:24
Location: Glasgow-ish
What do I do: Full time worker in a lingerie shop
Why have I decided to give a blog a go: my obsession for makeup and beauty products has taken over all my spare cash.

I really don't know what else to post in relation to myself, I'm terrible at bio type things.

So I think for now I'll just pop this up on the blog.
